Philosophy And Education, Teachers College At Columbia University In the portal, the decision letter read, "While your application to the Doctor of Philosophy program in Philosophy and Education was given extensive consideration, the Admission Committee believed that your preparation and credentials were better aligned with the Master of Education program in Philosophy and Education. Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to the Master of Education program in Philosophy and Education in the Department of Arts and Humanities for the 2024 Fall term." So, I was rejected for the PhD but given admission to a program for which I did not apply. From my research, that program does not have any funding, and is long (60 credits). Also, It is difficult, since I already have a MA in education. Decision letter also specifies "no promise" of admission to any other program. (i.e. a PhD there afterward.)

Physics, University Of Illinois (UIUC) Applied for research in gravitational physics. Graduating from a small liberal arts college in 3 years, with 2 years of research experience in the field at my home institution as well as an REU.

Applied Mathematics, Wheaton College Applied Math/Econ Dual Degree. 3 year varsity baseball player. Summer Institute of Biostatistics Alumni, Presented Poster at a Conference and have a lot of TA work under my belt. My GPA was not the best, nor my GRE, but somehow I got off the waitlist for the Iowa Biostats PhD! Crazy. Praise God, because I'm from a small Liberal arts college.

Communication Art And Science, Penn State University Each year the College of Liberal Arts at Penn State identifies the number of graduate students that our program can admit for the fall semester. Unfortunately, this number is always lower than the number of high-quality applications we receive, and that is especially true in our current environment of concern about budgets. This year, for example, our department's admission target is eight students across the areas of communication science and rhetorical studies, inclusive of both our MA and PhD applicants. With this number in mind, the department's Graduate Committee--composed of five faculty from across the department--examined each application, ranking them both individually and relative to the other applications in the pool. After receiving feedback from the department’s graduate faculty on an initial list of potential admits, the Graduate Committee met further to deliberate and decide whom it should admit for the fall 2023 cohort.

Mechanical Engineering, Yale University Received an email notification, but I am not going to accept the offer. Why should one study engineering in liberal arts college?! I will reject the offer on the last day I think.
