Pretty short and generic two-sentence email rejection. The portal was updated a few days later. They were pretty transparent about the fact that admissions would be extremely low or nonexistent this year because of funding cuts, so it wasn't a total shock. Still a bummer though!

I was rejected. I got an MA in Sociology, GPA 3.85, a publishing in the works, 2 honor societies, and 2 research positions... Perhaps it was my mediocre GRE scores?

To the one who got UW-Madison's RJ below: yep, it's a joke! lol......And UWM also reject me...

I'm wondering if this rejection is a joke? So far I've gotten in everywhere I've applied, and I come with a prestigious national research fellowship. My background includes an MS from a top program, 2 publications in a top geography journal, and recs from superstars with whom I've worked closely. I already have my pick of numerous programs... and yet Wisconsin is rejecting me? Their loss on this one!

Master GPA 3.83/4, 4 pubs, 3 months German exchange. I think I have done all my best

Master's GPA 3.9, forthcoming publication, pretty good gre scores, over 1 yr ta/ra experience. UW Madison wants more. Good luck to other applicants. Finding out through a website was probably the worst part :(.
