I had four interviews. 2 with the Institute of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and 2 with the Institute of Molecular Biology. 3yrs research, 2 REUs, no pubs, and a bunch of presentations. no gap years/still in undergrad.

The Institute of Ecology and Evolution (IE²)

3 years of part time research experience (straight from undergrad)

technician for 3 years, 3 publications in high-ranking journals, 2 second author, 1 fourth author. US based, no GRE

2 years undergrad research experience. Standard rejection

Coming straight from an Ivy League as an undergrad. 3.9 GPA, 2 years of academic research and 1 summer research internship. The PI I was in contact with emailed me about my interview offer!

Emailed by prospective PI. Applying straight from undergrad, 3.5 GPA, 1 REU and 1 year of research experience, 1 second-author publication. Can't believe I made it!!

I was notified that I was not selected for an interview. I have three years of highly-involved research experience with four published manuscripts, one of which being a first author review. However, I am more of a microbiologist so I think my research interests weren't aligned with the program's. Best wishes to everyone with an interview!

2 years of undergrad research experience; 1 poster presentation; contacted several PI's before applying and received positive feedback. Standard rejection email says they had a record number of applications.

GRE not required. 1 pier reviewed publication as second author, 1 year industry research, 1 year of undergraduate research, 1 presentation at an international conference, several presentations/posters at college/university conferences, 4 very strong LORs. Had a video chat with potential PI in Oct 2020 and exchanged emails with their current grad students, even had one of them review my SOP before submittal.

Prospective IE2 PI emailed me to let me know I was selected for interview in early Feb. Haven't received official department email yet

PI I have previously been in contact with notified me that I was selected for an interview with Ecology and Evolution, as well as Molecular Biology Staff. PI mentioned that I should expect the formal interview invite soon from UO Biology department.
