Master In Public Policy, University Of Chicago Not sure what the poster below suggests by saying "a lot of people in this forum who got accepted are going elsewhere"
I have the exact opposite impression (not too many waitlisted people will move to the Accepted state). This is even based on the posts here, the open house at U. of Chicago (which I attended and was packed!) and the strong Harris School ranking (a top 10 public policy program)
But, I still root for waitlisted, don't get me wrong. One thing is certain: given the financial crisis, more people are likely to defer or go to lower tier schools with better scholarship options.

Sociology, University Of Chicago I'd already been waitlisted. I heard this morning that I might be admitted, if I'm still interested. But it depends on a financial decision to be made next week -- about whether the university will allow the department to admit me.
