finally received my rejection

Received an email to check my "youSC" portal, and there it was! I am BEYOND thrilled and honored to be joining the coveted ranks of the USC Roski School of Art and Design! 😁

I've been driving myself crazy waiting for a response, so I emailed the university yesterday and received this today from the program director: "Thank you for your patience. We sent out offer letters to students just a short while ago. If you have not received an update to your portal, it is because you have been waitlisted. Admissions is hoping to deliver final notifications by April 15th, if not shortly after."

Accepted off wait list 04/06/2022. Informed high on waitlist, phone interview 03/08/2022.

Accepted off the waitlist via email and phone call. I had completely given up, so I am still in shock! Accepted the following morning. This closes out my (extremely rocky and stressful) season at 1a/6r/0p. For anyone reading this comment this spring or in years following: remember it only takes one acceptance to change the whole game!!! This was my second time applying and I am over the moon. This thing is a crapshoot and I was prepared to reapply in the fall and the fall after that. Your chances of getting in will increase with each time you apply :) good luck

Emailed grad office for update and they responded that offers have been sent out, and that I am on the wait list.

Already knew this was a rejection. Timeline: on 3/5, I knew all initial offers were already out, although waitlisted students were not notified. Seems like they don't notify waitlisted people, just wait to see if their initial offers are accepted. Emailed a few days later to see if I was on the waitlist, and got some nice compliments from a faculty member on a piece but the email implied I was rejected. Portal update 4/1 with the rejection letter.

Was ready to commit to another program, now I have to wait and see how this all shakes out!!

I had resigned myself to another automated rejection before I even opened the email, so this was a very pleasant surprise. One of my top choices, so I really have my fingers crossed!!!!!
