- I received an email from the Director of the Doctoral Program congratulating me on my admission and providing the letter of admission with the full details of my offer. An additional email from the graduate school with full details is supposed to follow shortly. I received full funding for five years for 12 month/year including a minimum stipend of $43k annually and was also given details about additional funding resources through the program and graduate school. A few more details to share: prior to applying, I did not contact my intended advisors to talk about applying. Also, I did not receive an interview request prior to receiving admission. I was accepted without any direct contact between myself and my intended advisors through my whole process of application. I have a year of previous ethnographic fieldwork, over a decade of life experience in the context I want to work in, years of professional experience in social research methods, two master's degrees with GPAs of 3.6, and some slight professional connections to my intended advisors (mostly through my past professors who are acquaintances with them). Strong “fit” with my intended advisors and a good SOP was key, I think, in my admission.
