- Sociocultural emphasis. Received a generic email rejection from the graduate coordinator on behalf of the DGS. I have a year of previous ethnographic fieldwork, over a decade of life experience in the context I want to work in, years of professional experience in social research methods, two master's degrees with GPAs of 3.6, and some professional connections to ND (but not the Anthro department). I am guessing it was an issue of fit as there was no faculty member who directly worked on my topic, even if there was some general overlap in interest areas? Or maybe I need a better writing sample? Just my own speculation. Anyway, best wishes to the other applicants!
