- PHEW!! My first acceptance. I got an email from a faculty member today saying I will get a more formal notice soon. No interview, no GRE. I'm focused on cosmology. I actually applied to PhD programs 2 years ago, got in nowhere, and ended up doing a masters' degree in astrophysics overseas. Got decent grades and did a cosmology-focused thesis. My first publication (first-author, but not cosmology) was also accepted by the Astronomical Journal yesterday and I immediately emailed all the programs to let them know. I got admitted to Wisconsin-Madison ~24 hours later and I'm not sure if that was a coincidence or not.
