- Dear Mr. Rahman: I am writing to regretfully inform you that we will not be able to offer you a place in the University of Illinois Physics Graduate Program. We received a record number of nearly 1000 applications this year; because we have a limited number of openings in each research area, we must unfortunately turn away many highly qualified students. I regret that we cannot take more of the excellent students that were in our applicant pool this year. I hope you find a graduate physics program that fits your research interests and I wish you the best in your promising future career. Sincerely, S.L. Cooper Associate Head for Graduate Programs Physics Department University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
