hep-th, quantum gravity. Unofficial acceptance from open house invitation two weeks ago, second unofficial notification with email from potential PI last week, and finally today official offer letter by mail. PI said in email that “ the recent graduate student strike has created some uncertainty in the financial situation of academic departments at the University of California. This is what caused the delays in writing the offer letter.” This might be part of the reason schools such as UCSB/UC Santa Cruz/UC San Diego/UCLA have still not sent out everything.
