Notes: I just wanted to post this for future applicants in the next cycle to have a clear picture of the time frame of the decisions on this new program. I put it as my first choice (not regular Econ, and they liked it). I was invited to an interview on the 28th of Jan, which occurred on the 7th of Feb. I was initially told they were going to make their decisions very shortly but then I got an email saying even though I was a strong candidate they received a new batch of applications that they were reviewing (people rejected in Econ). Finally, on the 12th of March, I was rejected. I got a great waitlist at a top 10 school recently so I am happy but this was quite painful. Tips for the interview...they will press you on your research proposal and they will also ask if you would be ready to accept the offer quickly. I didn't say yes seeing as the application cycle had just begun but that might have hurt my chances.
