Class of '19 -- I remember lurking this board feverishly while waiting for my results. I don't think I have seen anyone mention from past experience -- EVERYONE receives a Graduate Teaching Assistantship and for the same amount (Some are legitimate research roles or TA, some are more bs office work). Everyone also receives the reduction in tuition. The department basically subsidizes a portion of the University's tuition bill. That is not to say that I did not enjoy my experience or felt ripped off. But, when considering my offers, I felt very proud to receive so much more from Cornell than other schools, but it really just reduces the still exorbitant cost. Back then at least GTRS could cover your rent for the year if you weren't picky on your apt. I just checked some current for rent postings and well...
