- Interdisciplinary (Anthropology, Global Studies, Environmental Studies) BA from school in New York. Lots of research grants and ethnographic experience, weak traditional extracurriculars (such as clubs, sports, etc. Most of my free time was spent on independent research). Academic experience and volunteering pretty heavily focused on migration, and non-academic professional experience (3 internships) more related to environmental studies than migration directly. Exemplary student in the bubble of my undergraduate university, but perhaps average compared to students across other universities, especially Ivy leagues. Also applied for the MSc in Forced Migration and Refugee studies, and was rejected by email a few days after acceptance into the Migration Studies program. Very similar application materials for both (but tailored for each course), so must have been stiff competition this year.
