- Classic Harvard GSAS...sending rejections two weeks later after acceptances came out. Stats: econ & math undergrad degree from an ivy league school and master's from another top 5 school. Had 3 years of quantitative work experience (1 of those as a data scientist in tech) and submitted what I thought were strong letter of recommendations from professors and managers at work. Worked on a ML paper pending submission, so still no clue what they were looking from in candidates even after looking at some of the profiles of people who reported being accepted below. They seems to either want people with 5+ years of data science work experience or people fresh out of undergrad...but nothing in between?
