- MS CS in the US, with 1 first author publication in a top theory conference. Undergrad from a tier 1 engineering institute in India. Low undergraduate GPA (7.6/10), but that was in 5 years ago. Masters GPA 3.95. I had only heard that CMU metrics were weird, and now I have seen them. I had spoken with a professor who would have admitted me had I passed the first round. If this is their way of selecting candidates, is CMU even a dream school? I am sure MIT, Stanford have a more clear criteria of selecting candidates. CMU isn't so great in TCS anyway!
