- To address the commenter asking when I applied and the initials of the PI... I applied September 13th, 2020 for the Fall of 2021 Mining PhD program Penn State. I reached out to two different faculty members by email but never received a response. I had mentioned in my statement of purpose three different faculty I was interested in. The first I heard back was January 14th, 2021 via email notifying me of acceptance and funding. In the offer letter, the chair is supporting my application, but I am not assigned to a project at this time as I'll be a TA at first. If it matters, I had a 3.6 GPA undergrad and 4.0 GPA masters. 3 publications (a first author, a second author, and my thesis). GRE 159Q, 152V, AW 4. 5 years industry experience.
