- Word of warning to future applicants-- use extreme caution when applying to this program. All students, whether accepted or rejected, have had to wait until today for their decision. No communication of the delay or justification was given by the department and graduate admissions (a separate entity) will wash their hands of the issue as soon as they forward the materials to the review committee. If UT Austin is the ONLY university you plan to attend then it makes perfect sense to apply and wait for their decision. However, if you're applying to multiple universities you should understand that UT has no policy obliging them to make decisions by a specific date. If you are accepted to another university with a commitment deadline, there's little reason to expect UT to release their decision in time. In other words, if you aren't prepared to hold out on other offers and drop everything to move to Austin, TX within 3 weeks, your application is effectively a direct donation to UT.
