- To the person who posted about not getting into cal state with a BA in CSD and 1.5 years of experience, a note. DO NOT GIVE UP! I also have my Bachelors in comm disorders. I have had 1 year experience as a Speech and Language teacher at a private special education school and 2 years as a bilingual SLPA and still have not gotten in anywhere. This is my fourth round applying and still trying my best to follow my absolute passion. It really sucks getting rejected, it feels like this isn't for you- but I promise that it is if you have the fire in you. Try working as an SLPA and have your supervisor write your recs. Learn a second language and sign language. Really crush the GRE. Shadow or volunteer in clinic if possible. But don't give up!
