- Your application for admission to the Electrical and Computer Engineering master's degree program at the University of Michigan has been carefully reviewed. We regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to our program. Admission to our program is very competitive, and there is usually no one factor that prevents applicants from being admitted. Our admission committee looks at your individual record such as overall GPA, GRE scores, grades in foundational courses such as calculus and physics as well as courses related to the major area that you applied to. In addition, it is important to understand that there are a limited number of spots for each major area, so your application is compared to the other applicants applying to the same major area. Some areas are more competitive than others due to the number of students applying to a specific area. I hope this provides some context on how we make our admission decisions. We will not be able to accomodate any request for specific details on your application or how to improve your application for the future. We thank you for your interest, and wish you success in your future endeavors. Sincerely, Ian Hiskens Professor and Program Chair
