- I spoke with grad admissions on the phone. Was told several things: 1) Each PhD dept./committee has its own wait list, and they can be between 5-10 people long. Each committee does it differently. 2) The wait list is not a catch-all bucket for non-admitted interviewees. Some are rejected at this point. 3) 70-80% of interviewees are ultimately admitted. This sometimes includes those on the wait list. 4) They are aiming for 100 in the cohort this year, and interviewed ~340 5) Wait list admission fluctuates greatly year to year
