- Rejected despite an interview. Looking back, I wish I had stood my ground that I wouldn't be interviewed at midnight on my end just to fit in with their timings. The lack of accommodation on timings was a big deal -- shows lack of interest in helping students out. But this email shows the lack of care even more: "I am writing to inform you of the result of our admission process. First of all, thank you for your interest in Northwestern University’s French and Francophone Studies program. We enjoyed reading your dossier and learning about your interests. Unfortunately, after long deliberations, we arrived at the conclusion that we were not the best fit for each other. We had a large number of applicants and therefore had to make such difficult decisions. We wish you every success in pursuing your graduate studies." While it has the musings of an "I'm about to break-up with you email", I'm glad I jumped out of this relationship as fast as I could.
