- Rejection due to PI (initials: JK) only being able to extend 1 offer and me being 1/3 he wanted to accept. PI decided to call me instead of giving me a copy/paste email rejection since I spent so much time talking to him, other faculty, and his lab. PI had nothing but good things to say about my application and me as a potential future PhD student. The only thing I did not have that the accepted student does have is a publication in a journal, which ultimately won the department over. Really crushing. Was my top choice.
