- Applied for the PhD, but was accepted to the master's (without funding, but with assurance that "many Masters’ students find partial or full support directly from research projects beginning in their first or second semester"). Supposedly, continuing to the PhD is possible contingent on good master's performance and aligned stars. Already have a master's with a 4.0 and two NAACL papers (first author) in review. Two strong, high-quality LoRs and one that's presumably a "did well in class." Will very likely not attend.
