- They told me early this month that if I didn't receive an interview invite by mid-January that meant I was rejected, basically. Waited a few more days but finally accepted it. Didn't confirm with the program but I'm pretty confident this is what happened. Some of my stats: 4.34/5.00 GPA (top 9%), 2 years of research experience (1 year experimental in the US + 1 year computational in Colombia networking with people from Germany), 116/120 TOEFL iBT (that's percentile 99%), GRE doesn't matter since it's not required to apply to this program. At least 1 excellent LOR, the other 2 were good I guess. I think my mistake was that I didn't contact any professors. I simply applied because I was interested in their HIV research (they do a lot of that there). I already have two interview invites in very good places anyways! And not to be salty, but I had serious doubts about living in NC. Good luck!
