- For the sake of potential future applicants who may browse this thread for tips about funding, then grow increasingly anxious about the bizarrely antagonistic turn that some of these recent posts have taken, I would like to come forward to say that I'm an American with top grades from non-HYPS schools, combined with several years' worth of related work experience, and I got a Clarendon scholarship, as well as awards from other excellent universities in the UK. After doing extensive research about scholarship resources before applying, I neither expected funding from Oxford nor felt that I was somehow entitled to it. I feel immensely grateful for the opportunity and hope that others will take my experience as an encouragement to apply. It's a slow, frustrating process, and the University could indeed be more forthcoming about the relatively limited resources available for non-science candidates, but funding *is* possible.
