- Hi all - just wanted to add my experience because UNC has been so weird. I have a faculty contact there and back at the end of february when it had already seemed like too long (since they originally told me notifications would be sent out mid february) I asked him what was going on. About an hour after an odd email exchange, I got an acceptance from them. The letter goes as follows: "We are delighted to inform you that you have been recommended for admission to the Graduate School at UNC Chapel Hill by the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Our pool of applicants this year was among the strongest in department history, and you can be very proud of your accomplishments that have led to this decision. Please see the attached letter from the department Chair for information on our offer of financial support." Anyway, I'm not even sure if I was on a 'waitlist' or was an original admit or what. Very confusing. Either way, I will be turning this offer down so hopefully that helps someone out! Best wishes.
