- Economics major with a minor in politics. I think I had competitive academic credentials, strong LORs, and relevant work experience, but my research proposal/statement of interest was very rushed and there were some gaps in it, which is likely what sunk my application. I also applied to another program in the same department (to which I was also rejected) with a different research topic, so I am not sure if that had any impact on my chances for this one. For future applicants, if you have high stats, don't think you'll get in easily with grades alone. At the same time, for those with borderline grades, it seems that a strong research proposal could make up for it. So take your time with your application and have someone look over it before submitting it. Best of luck!
