- CMT. To the ASU poster below: sorry for your experience, but I just wanna point out that it also highly depends on what field you are applying to. For Some fields e.g. hep-th, spots available in research group are very limited everywhere, so they cannot admit more students than they could accommodate (though some schools are already taking too many theory students in my opinion). Whether your research interest matches with their groups is also important. For hep-th, I know several people (A/U) with several publications were rejected almost everywhere this year. In some cases, the difference between I and A might be the chance to connect with potential advisors in American colleges. Good luck to you!
