- nice to see some other oriental studies people - I got my offer in February but hadn't seen anyone else in the department yet. My sub-field is egyptology, and regarding funding, my supervisor warned me last year even before I had put my application in that funding in our department is very unlikely (though that might be specific to my field as the egyptology department has had a rough time for the past few years). That said, I am an international student as well which makes it that much harder to get funded
