- 3rd rejection, 1 acceptance, 1 waiting. Advise to future applicants (to any university, not just Duke): In my case, I was only accepted where faculty members knew my advisor. Apply to those places where your advisor can present a good case in your behalf. Having good scores means you are going to be reviewed, and experience is really useful (I have 2 years of research exp, 3 publications, and a few more on the go), but I'm convinced that the thing gives you the edge are your LORs. If the faculty know them, and trust their judgment, you are good to go. Good luck everyone!
