- Internal applicant. Absolutely shocked because my gpa is a 3.3ish and gre scores were not that great. But I am bilingual, have research experience, have 3 years of aba experience, volunteered in Peru and at Stanford Hospital doing newborn hearing screenings. I had two awesome letter of reccs from supervisors and I became great friends with some of the professors. I also had my letter of intent reviewed by three SLPs and one CDS professor. It is true, some schools will deny you if you have a 4.0! They are looking for more than just grades. I feel like they want someone who has demonstrated community engagement. When you become a great SLP and people ask, "Where did you go to school?", you should very proudly state the school. That is what admission commitee's are looking for, someone who will represent their school in the best way. That is also what I focused on in my letter of intent. Best of luck to all of you! Especially those with low GPAs who have lost hope. I am the best example of someone who had all odds against her and will now begin graduate school in the fall. Don't give up :)
