- Dear rejected student: The Department of Linguistics and Languages has now completed its review of applications to the graduate program in Cognitive Science of Language for 2014. I am sorry to tell you that your application was not successful. The two most important factors that we considered in assessing applications were a candidate’s overall academic record, and the fit between a candidate’s stated field of interest and the research programs of our faculty members.
