- B. Tech final year, IIT Kharagpur 9.43 CGPA. I applied to 5 schools. bit worried for this, but got acceptance from all others (Harvard, Oxford, Imperial, and UIUC). From our department (ECE), this time 2 guys got selected for EECS as profs are saying. I think for MIT CGPA, own contribution to research (publications not mandatory at all what I guess) and reco play the crucial role. I have two accepted international conferences and one transaction under review. The guys who got selected from our dept. even didn't have a single publication, still got due to very high CGPA, research work they are carrying out now for project and of course the reco from the two great profs of our department. But, I'm happy as so many students from our inst. across all dept.s got selected this time for the top one i.e. MIT.
