bad overall GPA (but very good major gpa) and not the best gre scores ever, but my statement, recs, and resume were all things i made sure were going to make me stand out. If you are stressed b/c of your grades, make sure you write a strong letter and try to contact professors. This was my top and only choice. so happy i made it in!
