- Thank you sincerely for applying to the graduate program in Economics at the University of Pittsburgh. We regret to inform you, however, that we cannot grant you admission to our program at this time. This year a record number of applicants (over 400) competed for fewer slots than in previous years. The Admissions Committee did its best to select a small group of people who will benefit from and contribute to the department and the university. Our decision on your application in no way reflects your ability to be successful in your academic pursuits, but rather that the choices this year were particularly difficult. Thank you again for your interest in our PhD program and for your thoughtful application. Please accept our best wishes as you make your plans for the upcoming year.
