- Warning: Do not come here if you do indigenous history there is no one to work with except an untenured new hire. If you do early America there is only one professor left here that does EA and he is going to retire within the next few years. Latinx studies is run by only one person, who is very problematic. The chair who does South Asian studies t has multiple allegations of sleeping with grad students throughout history time here. Also the south asian contingency as a whole is very toxic and regularly kicks students out. If you are interested in Women's history apply to the joint because the history department does not care about women's history (exception is African American women's history is great here). The only strength of this department is African American history, and you have a variety and no shortage of awesome professor's to work with. European history is okay, but the market sucks, do not apply to work with Rita Chin she does not care about students and will drop you.
