- I have not had a lot of luck this application cycle and got and interview. The person was 5 minutes late to the call asked me no questions about my research. I was then asked if I had a pen and paper on me to then make me draw and ester and amide. Then draw the resonance for both. I was completely floored by this as I was told by my advisors and peers that is not how they typically go. After I was asked about other schools and when I said I was still waiting to hear back I was told that I should keep trying them and it was said with a dismissive tone that told me they had already made their decision. After I received an email from the department coordinate saying: Thank you for reaching out. The committee is unable to admit you to the PhD program at this time. Will you be willing to switch to an MA program? There is no stipend for the MA program and you need to pay tuition. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested. Honestly the whole thing felt unprofessional.
