- Thank you for your application to the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at Tufts University. The academic department to which you applied has completed its review of your application materials. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you admission to the program of study leading to the Doctor of Philosophy in English at this time. The department carefully evaluates all applicants and examines many different facets of the background of each individual, and each individual is then reviewed relative to other applicants. Although we were impressed by your qualifications, ours is a small school with limited enrollment. We receive a large number of applications and there are many fine candidates whom we, unfortunately, are unable to accommodate. We appreciate your interest in the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at Tufts University, and wish you success going forward in your academic career
