- No interview, just email. Good Morning, Thank you for submitting your application materials to the Department of Applied Linguistics for the Ph.D. degree in Applied Linguistics. The Admissions Committee has now completed its review of the applications for Fall 2026. I regret to inform you that you have not been admitted into the program. When making admissions decisions we consider the applicant's academic record, type and range of teaching and professional experiences, and specified research interests. In addition to selecting only those applicants with top ratings in all of these categories, we look for those whose research interests closely match the scholarly expertise of the APLNG faculty. Thus, each year we reject applicants with strong applications but with research interests that are not the best fit with our faculty. This year, the decisions were particularly difficult as we had a large number of highly qualified applicants. I regret that our decision could not be more positive. On behalf of the Admissions Committee, I wish you continued success in your academic and professional endeavors.
