- Email from DGS. Honestly thought the interview went well, and it was my top choice, which makes it even harder. That said, I have to give them credit: it's probably the kindest and most considerate rejection letter I've ever received, acknowledging the time and effort applicants put in. Still sad, but grateful for the thoughtful note. "...Applying to graduate school takes significant energy and time, and we were honored that you included us among your choices for application. While we aren’t able to offer specific feedback on your application, please know that our decision this year is not a negative evaluation of your suitability for graduate school or a career in the history profession. Each year, we must forego the opportunity to work with and learn from many talented applicants. The loss is entirely ours, and we hope that you will find another path where you will be supported to pursue your passions."
